About the Presenter - Tom Lombardo, Ph.D., Director of the Center for Future Consciousness, and author of several books and numerous articles on consciousness, wisdom, psychological evolution, and the study of the future will discuss with the group his two new books. Drawing upon his recent articles “The Ecological Cosmology of Consciousness” and “Educating the Wise Cyborg” (published in one of his two new books Wisdom, Consciousness, and the Future) his talk highlights his ideas on the nature of consciousness and its interdependency with the physical ecology of the cosmos, the connection between mind and technology, and how time and evolution figure into the further development of human consciousness.” In this context, he also discusses Antonio Damasio’s new book on consciousness Self Comes to Mind: Constructing the Conscious Brain. He also discusses some new topics in science fiction as well.”
Blogger's Note - The preceding video is an unedited rough draft version and it could be refined and edited so the audio is overlaid and synched with a cleaner video of the powerpoint presentation which would look much better, but for right now the raw audio has at least turned out decent enough to justify posting the presentation online unedited, imo, mainly for the sole intent and purpose of getting it online in a timely manner. If the video quality or the fact that you can't really see the presenter annoys you too much, then don't let it, you can actually listen to the video as one would an audio book or podcast instead and it still makes for a decent presentation even without the visuals.
Anyhow, the most important thing is that you'll probably learn and perhaps even will critique a few things from it, depending on how experienced you are in the ideas of Physics and Philosophy yourself that is. Ultimately, I'm hoping that you will appreciate and enjoy it as much as I have, it was really a good presentation after all, and there was a lot of time an effort that went into that night that deserves to be much appreciated.
